Injury preventation in the workplace

Health and Safety training is so important within any workplace to ensure the well-being of all staff. We've pulled together of few of what we consider to be the most important statistics from the Health and Safety Executive over the past few years.

Did you know?

  • 133 workers were killed at work between 2013 and 2014.
  • 2535 deaths occurred during 2012 due to past asbestos exposure.
  • 78,000 other injuries to employees were reported under the RIDDOR between 2012/2013. RIDDOR is the abbreviation for - Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations.
  • 1.1 million working people were suffering from work-related illnesses between the years of 2011 and 2012.
  • 27 million working days were lost due to work-related illnesses and workplace injuries between 2011/2012.

The results are quite shocking and will hopefully make everyone aware of the importance of following Health and Safety regulations in any work place.

Here at Easybook Training, we offer various Health and Safety courses and at a wide choice of different locations to suit your needs.

Delegates that undertake a Health and Safety training course can expect to learn the need to prevent accidents, understand why risk assessments have to be carried out and why it is vital you report any instances. This states just a few of the important aspects workers and employers will learn on such courses.

The industry and field you work within will impact the type of Health and Safety training course you complete. One of our very useful classroom courses is the Level 3 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace, which is aimed towards people working at supervisor or managerial level and is a 3 day course. We also offer this course at Level 4 and this is a more intense training course, lasting for 5 days. Level 4 is designed for trainers, businesses and production managers, to name a few.

Another course you can undertake is the CITB Health and Safety Awareness course which is for individuals who are starting work in the construction and civil engineering industry.

It is vital that employees, and employers alike, are update-to-date and fully aware of potential dangers within their place of work, the risks they could have on staff and visitors and are confident to deal with a situation if one occurs. Please get in touch if you are unsure about the course you should complete.
