Q & A on Fire Safety Training

Why do I need to take a Fire Safety course?

It is essential that we are all aware and understand fire safety in our everyday lives, at home and at the work place. It is vital that we all know what to do in the event of a fire and also what hazards to look out for to prevent fires.

The law requires all employees to have some type of fire training, even if it is a basic induction as to what to do if a fire breaks out and also where the meeting is.

How often do I need to take a refresher course?

There is no set time scale put in place for refresher courses, however it is something that should be continually monitored. It is important to brush up on your Fire Safety knowledge and ensure you and your staff are up to date with any changes in procedures that may occur.

How do I know if I need to take a Fire Safety course?

It is never a bad thing to be trained in fire safety, however, anyone that has fire safety responsibilities in either prevention or evacuation should definitely undertake a course. Also managers, business owners or supervisors should participate in a course to ensure their company or team meets the fire safety legislation.

How will I be assessed on the course?

The assessment aspect will differ from course to course. For example the assessment for the Fire Marshal course is a multiple choice paper. However, the NEBOSH Fire Certificate courses require a written and practical examination. Further details of individual assessments can be found on the 'assessment' tab on each course description.

How can I take the training course?

Not only do we hold courses at a number of different venues across the country, but we also offer courses all year round, making it easy for everyone to attend one.

What level of course do I need to take?

The level of course you undertake depends on your role and responsibilities:

Fire Marshal - Any person that has been allocated fire safety responsibilities in the prevention of fires and implement fire evacuations should a fire occur.

NEBOSH Fire Certificate - Managers and supervisory staff who need to ensure that their organisation meets its responsibilities under fire safety legislation.
