Why you should complete PASMA Training

PASMA training (Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association) is the recognised focus and authority for mobile access towers.  Working with mobile access towers can be very dangerous and it is vital that the course is undertaken by anyone working within the industry.

PASMA was founded in 1974 and advances safety, standards and best practices across a range of different sectors.  It is the single source of information on all aspects of mobile towers.   The organisation plays a major part in promoting mobile access towers for temporary work at height.  This isn't just for construction, but also for building maintenance, facilities management, local Government and retail.

The use of a mobile access tower remains one of the most versatile ways of accessing hard to reach areas, and when used correctly it is also often one of the safest.  However, falling from a height is one of the top contributors to deaths and injuries within the workplace.

Every year, thousands of people are injured due to misfit mobile access towers.  As previously mentioned, mobile access towers aren't just used within construction but also for building maintenance.  One reason for using mobile access towers is for the cleaning of office block windows, for example.  This means that the public walk past mobile access towers every day making it vital that the assembling of them is correct.

The Work at Height Regulations state that only a person deemed competent is allowed to undertake a PASMA course.  Delegates must complete a health and fitness statement to prove they are physically fit and in good health.  Failure to do so may mean the delegate is unable to attend and carry out the course.

The PASMA training course goes some way in preventing accidents from occurring.  The objective of the PASMA course is for each delegate attending to be able to safely and correctly identify, assemble, alter, move and dismantle mobile access towers in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.  It also teaches delegates an understanding of current regulations and relevant legislation with regards to mobile access towers.

Upon completion of the PASMA training course, the delegate receives a PASMA photo ID card which proves their competency and is widely accepted across the UK.  Many contractors within the UK will not allow work on their site without seeing the PASMA training card.
