Workplace Heath and Safety

All employees should have a good general knowledge about workplace health and safety.  Last year, workplace injury cost the UK economy an estimated £13.4billion.

Under the law, all employers are responsible for health and safety management however employees hold some responsibility as well.  Employers are responsible for protecting the health, safety and welfare of all of their employees as well as anyone who comes into contact with the business.  Employers must carry out regular risk assessments and inform workers how and when they will be at risk.

With workplace injury costing the economy so much money, then it's possible to say that not all companies are enforcing health and safety.  There are various different courses which an employer can undertake, or send their employees on to ensure health and safety is practised in the workplace.   These courses are designed to teach delegates the risks involved, whatever industry they work within.  Whilst construction is the most risk industry, people working within an office can also be affected by bad health and safety practice.  Dropping paper on the floor, spilling drinks and electrical's can all cause accidents within an office.

Some of the courses available from our website are purely aimed at those working within the Construction industry.  For example, the CITB Heath and Safety Awareness course which takes place across the UK is a one day basic course aimed at people entering or already working within the construction industry.   Similarly, the CCNSG Passport is also for those working in construction and aims at enabling employees to work more safely and minimise risks.

However, the IOSH Working Safely course is aimed at anyone in any industry.  The course gives delegates a basic understanding of 'working safely'.  It is aimed at all levels,  so an employer could pay for in house training by one of our training providers.  By this, the training course leader would come to your premises and teach the course to all of your staff.  Alternatively, you could put management onto an IOSH Managing Safely course, which is slightly more advanced and teaches people how to manage health and safety, risks and minimise injury.  IOSH Directing Safely is another useful course which is aimed at directors of organisations and those who make final decisions on health and safety issues.

Workplace health and safety is one of the most important aspects for a business, it shouldn't be left to chance so get your course booked today.
