NG1: Health and Safety Management
NG2: Risk Assessment, covering the following areas:
Health and Safety Practical Application
The course attendee must carry out a practical assessment of a workplace and prepare a management report.
To pass the NEBOSH General Certificate, you’ll need to successfully complete both of the following:
An open book exam (based on unit NG1)
This is an exam that you can complete at home or another quiet space where you can focus. You’ll be asked to carry out a series of tasks based on a given workplace scenario. This exam is designed to test your critical thinking skills. To pass, you’ll need to use evidence from the scenario along with knowledge you’ve gained throughout unit NG1 of the course.
After completing the exam, you’ll be interviewed via video call, to talk through the tasks and verify that the work you’ve submitted is your own. During the interview, which lasts around 15 minutes, the examiner will ask to confirm your identity using photo ID.
A practical assignment (based on unit NG2)
You’ll be asked to complete a practical assignment, which you’ll submit directly to NEBOSH. This is to demonstrate your knowledge and apply your skills in a practical situation.
Both assessments will be marked by an external examiner appointed by NEBOSH. All examiners have extensive experience and are considered experts in the industry.
You need to pass both assessments to achieve your NEBOSH General Certificate.
Students are notified of their results 10-12 weeks after the exams. Certification is issued by NEBOSH after results have been announced.
You are responsible for submitting your assessments within agreed timescales. If you don’t meet these deadlines, you risk failing the course.
Successful delegates will be awarded the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety on completion of the course. The NEBOSH Certificate is accepted by IOSH – the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health – in meeting the academic requirements for Technician Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH). It is also accepted by The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) for associate membership.
The NEBOSH General Certificate is a mandatory requirement for most health and safety roles.
Whether you’re responsible for health and safety in the workplace or have a general interest in creating safer working practices, this NEBOSH training course will give you a wide-ranging knowledge of occupational health risks and how to minimise them.
