As talk about the importance of taking health and safety courses has increased over the years, legislations have changed and it has become apparent that there are many employers who are unaware of what their responsibilities actually are within the workplace.
Under the law, employers are responsible for health and safety management. It is their overall responsibility to protect the health, safety and welfare of all of their employees and anyone on their business premises or whom may be affected by the business. However, employees have responsibilities too, which were discussed in our recent post.
This responsibility means that employers have to make sure that employees and others are protected from anything which may cause harm, and educate them about known risks. This involves carrying out regular risk assessments of the buildings premises and ensuring employees have regular up-to-date health and safety training. If employers have identified a risk, they must educate the employees as to how the risk needs to be managed, or what to do in an emergency.
Many CEO's of larger companies will delegate health and safety responsibilities to someone else whereas owners of smaller businesses will take the responsibility themselves. Either way is fine, but all members of staff need to know about any health and safety risks.
At
Easybook Training, we offer different
health and safety courses for people working in different levels. One of the most popular courses in the
IOSH Safely set. These courses have different levels, depending on the delegates position within the business. All of the courses are run by IOSH, who are the worldwide recognised as the Institute Of
Safety and Health.
The basic course, I
OSH Working Safely is aimed at delegates of any level, working within any industry. This course gives delegates a good grounding of health and safety issues. It is a one day course and is perfect for businesses. If a business has a large amount of employees they require to take the course, Easybook Training can even organise a tutor to visit your organisation and carry out the training 'in house'.
IOSH then operate courses at more senior levels, which are IOSH Managing Safety,
IOSH Directing Safely and
IOSH Safety for Senior Executives. All of which are aimed at different levels of the organisation, however similarly to the IOSH Working Safely, these can be taken within any industry.
