New Courses Added – IPAF 3a and 3b

Easybook Training are delighted to be able to offer IPAF 3a and 3b courses to all of our customers in UK wide locations.

The IPAF 3a and 3b course is designed for anyone who operates a MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform).  This includes scissor lifts, boom lifts, trailer mounted vehicles or vehicle mounted boom lifts.  The course is international and recognised across the world.

IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) was set up in 1983 to promote the safe and effective use of powered access.  It plays a key part in the powered access industry, representing the interests of manufacturers, distributors, users and training companies.

Training is required in all industries, whether working with equipment or in an office.  There are always potential hazards around.  Employers are obliged by law to protect employees with efficient health and safety training.  Of course, working with powered access can be more dangerous than working in an office which makes these courses even more important.

The IPAF 3a and 3b course covers mobile vertical and mobile boom equipment.  Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be aware of the relevant health and safety regulations and be qualified in moving machinery safely as required.  As well as this, they will be fully aware of accident prevention and control which is vital working within this industry.

As technology develops, the workplace is ever-changing which identifies the need for constant on-going training in the workplace.  It is an employers responsibility to keep up with changing legislations and ensure their staff are fully trained in everything they need to be.  Training is a key requirement for the development of staff, not only will it keep them safe in the workplace, but it is also likely to make them much more motivated and improve their performance.

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 highlights this point and places a duty on employers to ensure their staff members have adequate training allowing them to use equipment safely and effectively.

Another important piece of legislation to consider is the Work at Height Regulation 2005.  This highlights minimum safety and health requirements when using equipment at height.  The regulations apply to all employees working at height and anyone at risk of fall which may cause personal injury.  This is the responsibility of the employer, self-employed or managers of the site to ensure safe working is taking place.
