SSSTS for Safe Construction

Anyone taking on a role which involves managing on a construction site needs to undertake a health and safety training course, so why not consider an SSSTS training course?  This is required by construction site management guidelines.  The importance of the correct SSSTS training cannot be overestimated, with construction being an industry with one of the highest fatality rates.

Every year there are hundreds of accidents on construction sites around the country.  Whilst some of these accidents cannot be prevented, there are many which could have been prevented with the correct management or training.  According to the Health and Safety Executive, a Government run website, there were fifty deaths in the construction industry over the year of 2010 and 2011.  These high numbers emphasise the need to fully follow health and safety rules and laws when working on a construction site.

SSSTS training courses are offered to those working in supervisory roles within the construction industry, these include managerial and supervisory positions as they are required to work within the law.  The steps taught to delegates on this course show delegates how to cope in an emergency, undertake risk assessments and protect fellow colleagues as well as the general public.

Over the two day course, delegates will be taught the importance of risk assessments as well as how to implement and control measures which are put on site.  One vital part of the course is communication.  It is highly important that site supervisors communicate with workers about risks and the importance of following safety procedures.  In these situations, communication can save lives.

Delegates will also be taught how to identify problems within the construction industry. This could be an issue on their own site, with suppliers, or an issue with staff.  Once the issue has been identified, delegates are taught how they can manage and monitor the issue.

Perhaps most importantly, delegates will be taught the up to date health and safety legislations.  It is a legal requirement to follow these laws, and anyone caught not doing so will be penalised.  Understanding these laws will help delegates to create risk assessments and understand what may go wrong in the future.

The SSSTS course is endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group as the standard required training for anyone working in a supervisory role at a construction site.  For this reason, SSSTS should be considered as an essential training course.

For thoses delegates that attended the SSSTS course 5 years ago can now attend the SSSTS refresher course.
