SSSTS courses is attended by thousands of delegates each year in the UK
The SSSTS course is aimed at construction site supervisors, it is the first step in safety for new managers or supervisors. As a manager or site supervisor you have a legal and moral responsibility for your workers and those in your care. The health and safety of the site is your responsibility and it is important that you are fully aware of all health and safety aspects. With injuries at work over 100,000 last year and mainly in the construction industry it's important to plan every job to ensure it's within the law and you are taking all the measures possible to ensure no one gets hurt.
The SSSTS course is perfect for new managers and those who have never had safety training before. The course is set over two days and covers a wide range of subjects. Once you have passed the course you will get a certificate which proves you know all the relevant information to supervise men and women on site.
The main point of the course is to prove you have the skills and knowledge required to manage a site safely. With this in mind, the course highlights the need for risk assessments, implementing necessary control measures and maintaining high standards of health and safety on the construction site. Throughout the course you will be taught current regulations and health and safety acts. The course also teaches the legal system around health and safety and where you stand. In addition to this the course also teaches practical aspects, for example how to complete risk assessments.
As anyone working in construction knows, a construction site can be extremely dangerous. It is therefore vitally important to be aware of all the dangers which may occur. This could be anything from lifting heavy items to using scaffolding, everything which could cause injury is identified as a risk. Whilst this may not completely eradicate any chance of injury, it will help workers be aware of the risks they may face.
After completing the SSSTS course, you can progress onto the SMSTS course which is a five day management safety programme. The SSSTS course is vital to site safety.
There is also SSSTS Refresher courses available after the 5 years has elapsed.
