If you work with lead, or are likely to be exposed to lead while carrying out your daily tasks, this course will enable you to work safely, taking appropriate precautions and control measures.

After completing this 2-hour online Lead Awareness course you will understand your legal responsibilities, the kind of risks associated with lead exposure and how to overcome them.

  • An introduction to lead – what it is, where it’s found, and why it is dangerous
  • How does lead affect health, and who is most affected?
  • Paths to lead exposure and rates of lead exposure
  • The Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2002
  • How to look after your health
  • Employer duties, training and supervision
  • What does the law say about self-employed workers?
  • The access, control and review method
  • Preventing lead exposure – additional controls, welfare facilities and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • PPE – fit testing and fake PPE
  • Health checks at work
  • Blood lead levels – the recommended levels and how to reduce them
  • Data protection and medical information

Assessment

At the end of this training course, you will take an online exam containing 10 multiple-choice questions. The exam is marked automatically and you’ll find out your results straight away. A pass mark of 80% is required, however, if you are unsuccessful, you can re-take the exam as many times as you need to at no extra charge.
