By the end of this 2-hour eLearning course, you will:

• Know what to do if a fire breaks out - assess the situation before fighting it
• Understand the PASS method of using fire extinguishers
• Explain how and when to use a fire blanket
• Demonstrate techniques to use each type of fire extinguisher safely

This online course covers the following topic areas:

• Why fire extinguisher training is important

• The steps you should take before fighting a fire
• When to use an extinguisher, and when to use a fire blanket
• How to use fire extinguishers safely
• Choose the right extinguisher for the fire
• The PASS technique
• Basic steps for using different fire extinguishers - water, ABC powder, M28 powder, L2 powder, carbon dioxide and foam
• How to use wet chemical extinguishers
• How to use a fire blanket
• What to do if you can't put a fire out

Assessment

At the end of this online Fire Extinguisher course, you will take an online exam containing 20 multiple-choice questions. The exam is marked automatically and you’ll find out your results straight away. A pass mark of 90% is required, however, if you are unsuccessful, you can re-take the exam as many times as you need to at no extra charge.

Who is this Course for?

Fire wardens, fire marshals, or anyone responsible for fire safety in the workplace is welcome to take this course. It is intended as an introduction to fire safety, and should not replace practical training on how to use fire extinguishers and fire blankets (required for all fire wardens and marshals). However, it can be used as a refresher course after practical training, as well as an overview for newcomers.

If you've received practical training, this course will reinforce your knowledge and help build your confidence in how to tackle fire in the workplace (and beyond).
