Project Management 1 Day Course

Project Management 1 Day Course

1 Day CourseClassroom

If project management makes up a significant part of your role, the Project Management 1 Day Course will teach you everything you need to know about setting up and managing a successful project. You're invited to work on a current project during the course, if you can, testing new techniques and methodologies to plan and schedule, as well as overcome any issues you may be facing.

Anyone wanting to go further after this introduction should look at the Practical Project Management 2 Day Course, which builds on the fundamentals covered here with a fuller, hands-on look at a project's entire life cycle. Since risk analysis features as a key part of the day, this course also pairs well with the Risk Management 1 Day Course, for anyone managing significant risk on their projects.

Because good team communication is central to project success, this course also complements the Communication Skills 1 Day Course well. There's no formal assessment for this course, but delegates receive a Certificate of Attendance for their records.

This one-day Project Management 1 Day Course will give you the tools you need to feel more confident in delivering successful projects. By the end of the day, you'll:

  • Understand the basic techniques that underpin successful projects
  • Be aware of your own personal strengths
  • Understand which areas you need to focus on improving
  • Know how planning plays a key role in project management
  • Be able to plan, deliver and evaluate a project
  • Have the opportunity to work on a live project during the training

On the Project Management 1 Day Course, we're going back to the very beginning. Starting with the definition of a project, you'll look at pre-project research, common terminology, who's in the team, their roles, and how to communicate with everyone effectively. Then, the course takes you through the process, step by step, covering:

  • Project management techniques
  • What makes a successful project?
  • Why good communication is important
  • Common challenges you might face
  • Planning: objectives, desired outcomes and identifying customer needs
  • Limitations: resources and timescales
  • Risk analysis, budgets and building a team
  • Delivery: create a detailed work schedule
  • Gantt charts and Critical Path Analysis
  • Evaluation: reporting, contingencies and handing over

There's no formal assessment for the Project Management 1 Day Course. However, you'll receive a Certificate of Attendance for your records.
