CITB ONLINE SSSTS Course (Remote Learning)

Moving into a supervisory role brings a fresh layer of safety responsibility, and the CITB Online SSSTS Course (Remote Learning) brings that grounding straight to your screen. This two day virtual course is delivered remotely using instructor-led online learning, and the online course content remains the same as classroom-based SSSTS training, though delegates attend a scheduled, interactive class via online video conferencing rather than in person.

Intended for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities, the CITB Online SSSTS Course (Remote Learning) gives supervisors the ability to understand health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, along with their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities, highlighting the need to promote health and safety in order to supervise effectively. The course is endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group as the standard training for all supervisors working on UKCG sites. To take part, delegates need access to a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, microphone and speaker; tablets aren't supported for this course. Delegates under the age of 18 must provide written consent from a parent or guardian to attend successfully, and it takes approximately two to three weeks for the CITB to issue an E-Cert following successful completion.

Upon successful completion, delegates given supervisory responsibilities will understand:

• What is expected of them
• How to ensure they contribute to the safety of the workplace

This online CITB course will cover the following:

• Health & Safety at Work Act
• The Role of the Supervisor
• Behavioural Safety in the Workplace
• PPE
• Site Inductions & Toolbox Talks
• Risk assessments and the need for method statements
• Monitor site activities effectively

At the end of the CITB Online SSSTS Course (Remote Learning), delegates are required to sit an exam paper consisting of:

• 21 multiple choice questions, worth one point each
• 4 safety critical questions requiring a short written answer, worth one to three points each, all of which must be answered correctly to pass
• An overall pass rate of 80% (24 out of 30)

The exam takes place at the end of the course via an online video call with your tutor, and no secondary devices, including mobile phones, are allowed during the exam. Delegates who successfully complete the projects and assessment are awarded the CITB SSSTS, Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme certificate, valid for five years.

This two day virtual course is aimed at first line managers, foremen, gangers, team leaders, supervisors and those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities.

A good understanding of spoken and written English is necessary to attend and successfully complete the CITB Online SSSTS Course (Remote Learning). Students are required to complete their training on a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, microphone and speaker; tablets are not supported.
