CITB ONLINE Temporary Works Supervisor (TWSTC) Course (Remote Learning)

CITB ONLINE Temporary Works Supervisor (TWSTC) Course (Remote Learning)

1 Day CourseOnline Instructor Led

Supervising temporary works on site calls for a solid understanding of both the legal duties involved and the practical teamwork needed to keep everyone safe, and this one day CITB Online Temporary Works Supervisor Course (Remote Learning) brings that training straight to your screen. Delivered remotely using instructor-led online learning, the course content remains the same as the classroom-based TWSTC course, though delegates attend a scheduled, interactive class via Zoom video conferencing rather than in person.

Designed to help those on site who have responsibility for supervising temporary works, the CITB Online Temporary Works Supervisor Course (Remote Learning) is accredited by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and focuses on the importance of good safety practices, legislation, and risk management for projects of all sizes. Candidates need experience of being responsible for managing all forms of temporary works, along with detailed knowledge and understanding of BS5975 in respect of this role. Anyone weighing up remote against classroom delivery may also want to look at the CITB Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWCTC) Course, a natural progression point for anyone moving between the two roles.

The course also emphasises the importance of the 4Cs: communication, co-ordination, co-operation and competency. Please note that attendance alone doesn't confirm competency as a Temporary Works Supervisor; that comes from a mixture of education, training and experience, though training is considered an essential element of that competence. Delegates are asked to refer to the current British Standards BS5975 for Temporary Works (Code of Practice) prior to their training.

To take part, delegates need access to a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, microphone and speaker; tablets aren't supported for this course. It takes approximately two to three weeks for the CITB to issue an E-Cert following successful completion.

At the end of the CITB Online Temporary Works Supervisor Course (Remote Learning), successful candidates will understand:

  • The legal duties of a Temporary Works Supervisor
  • Risk management on site
  • The 4Cs: communication, cooperation, coordination and competency
  • The importance of teamwork on a temporary works site
  • BS5975 in respect of this role

The CITB Online Temporary Works Supervisor Course (Remote Learning) will cover the following topics:

  • The role of the Temporary Works Supervisor
  • Types of temporary works
  • Legislation and codes of practice
  • Risk assessment and safety at work
  • BS5975
  • Policies and procedures
  • Case studies

Delegates on the CITB Online Temporary Works Supervisor Course (Remote Learning) are required to attend the full day's training, during which they're assessed on their knowledge and understanding of each subject area. A multiple-choice test paper of 22 questions, three of which are free text, is sat at the end of the day, with a pass mark of 78% (21 out of 27). The exam is scheduled at a convenient time and conducted via a 1-2-1 Zoom video call with your tutor, and no secondary devices, including mobile phones, are allowed during the exam. On successfully passing the end of course assessment, delegates are awarded CITB certification, valid for five years.

The CITB Online Temporary Works Supervisor Course (Remote Learning) is ideal for managers, supervisors and agents, as well as those who want to progress on from the role of a Temporary Works Co-ordinator.

A good understanding of spoken and written English is necessary to attend and successfully complete the CITB Online Temporary Works Supervisor Course (Remote Learning). Students are required to complete their training on a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, microphone and speaker; tablets are not supported.
