ISEP, the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals, is the global professional body for anyone working in environmental sustainability. It was formerly known as IEMA (the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) and officially rebranded on 17 July 2025.

That rebrand hasn't changed the courses themselves. It affects the name and branding only, with course content, learning outcomes, duration and assessment structure remaining exactly the same. Course titles have simply been updated to reflect the ISEP name.

Existing IEMA qualifications and certificates also remain fully valid, carrying the same recognition and weight as before. Anyone currently studying towards an IEMA-titled course will have their qualification honoured, with certificates issued after 17 July 2025 carrying the ISEP name instead.

Completing relevant ISEP qualifications can also lead to Practitioner status (PISEP, formerly PIEMA), giving access to exclusive webinars, networking opportunities and mentor support, among other member benefits.

The organisation itself has a long track record, having been operating since 1998 and supporting more than 22,000 members across 125 countries in raising environmental management standards and encouraging sustainable practices worldwide.
