CITB ONLINE SMSTS Course (Remote Learning)

Managing a construction site brings legal, practical and safety responsibilities that don't leave much room for guesswork, and the CITB Online SMSTS Course (Remote Learning) brings that industry-standard qualification straight to your screen. This five day virtual course is delivered remotely using instructor-led online training, and the course content remains the same as classroom-based training, though delegates attend a scheduled, interactive class via Zoom video conferencing rather than in person.

Designed for site managers, site agents and anyone who is, or is due to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff and a workforce, the CITB Online SMSTS Course (Remote Learning) covers relevant legislation and other aspects affecting safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessments, the implementation of necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture across the workforce. Anyone weighing up remote against classroom delivery may also want to look at the CITB SMSTS Course, which covers identical content in person for those who prefer face-to-face learning.

To take part, delegates need access to a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, microphone and speaker; tablets aren't supported for this course. Delegates under the age of 18 must provide written consent from a parent or guardian to attend successfully. In order to obtain the qualification, delegates must attend all five days of the course, and it takes approximately two to three weeks for the CITB to issue an E-Cert following successful completion. The certificate is valid for five years, after which candidates need to sit the CITB Online SMSTS Refresher Course (Remote Learning) to renew their certification.
