Overview

The CPCS A31 Ride on Roller training course provides candidates with the skills and accreditation to operate an A31 Ride on Roller safely effectively and in-line with health and safety legislation.

This plant training course is accredited by the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) and is delivered as a combination of tutorials and practical training.

Delegates are required to have a basic knowledge of current health & safety issues as well as a good understanding of written and spoken English. In order to successfully complete training, candidates MUST have a CITB Health, Safety & Environmental touch screen test which has been completed within 2 years of the course examination date.

The CPCS Red trained operator card confirms a level of core skills, knowledge and understanding that can be applied in the workplace.  PLEASE NOTE this card is non-renewable.

Objectives

Successful completion of the CPCS A31 Ride on Roller course will:

  • Provide both the knowledge and practical skills required to operate an A31 Ride on Roller safely and productively.
  • Enable candidates to achieve a CPCS Red Operator Card, which confirms and indicates core skills, knowledge and understanding of operating equipment in the workplace.

Agenda

This CPCS training course will cover the following areas:

  • The purpose of principal components, basic construction, controls and terminology.
  • Pre-use checks and configuration.
  • Use in confined spaces and over difficult surfaces - e.g. incline, rough ground.
  • Principles and requirements of compaction.
  • Compacting materials as required, including around obstructions and up to edges.
  • Shut-down, securing, loading and unloading procedures.
  • Understand loading and unloading processes.
  • Machine configuration for travel.

Assessment

Candidates are required to take theory and practical tests for completion of the CPCS A31 Ride on Roller training course. Successful completion of the course will enable candidates to attain a Red Trained Operators Card (valid for two years).

Assessment will take place across the following:

  • 2 days of practical training
  • 1 day of CPCS testing

Who Should Attend?

This CPCS course is designed for those with little or no experience of operating an A31 Ride on Roller and who wish to obtain a CPCS Red Card.

Suggested Progression

The CPCS Red Card is only valid for 2 years and delegates will be required to progress to the CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card.  To achieve this delegates must complete the relevant Construction NVQ.  The Blue card had a 5 year expiry and is renewable.

Prerequisites

In order to confirm your registration, you are required to provide the following information:

  • Existing CSCS Card Number
  • NI Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Home Address

Candidates MUST have an in-date CITB Health, Safety and Environment Touch Screen Test which has been completed within 2 years of the course examination date. A good understanding of written and spoken English is essential.

  • Will lunch be Included?

    The joining instructions will indicate if lunch is provided for the duration of your course.  Should you need to know prior to booking please contact one of our team who will be happy to advise.

  • When will I receive my Course Joining Instructions?

    Course joining instructions are sent 7 to 10 days prior to course commencement.  If you book within this time frame they are emailed within 24 hours of the booking being placed.

  • Do I have to attend all days/sessions?

    Full attendance on all days, at the required times stated on your course joining instructions, is compulsory to successfully complete the course.

  • What time does my course start?

    Start and finish times are confirmed on your joining instructions which are issued 7 to 10 days prior to course commencement.  Failure to arrive at the requested time may result in the delegate being turned away.

  • Will I be required to wear PPE?

    If PPE is required for your training it will be listed on our website, within the course information section, and also confirmed on your joining instructions.  If you are missing an item or have any queries please contact our customer service team at your earliest convenience on 01892 543000.

  • Why do I need to provide a pre-requisite?

    Pre-requisites are requested when the awarding body requires proof of a previous in date qualification or experience, to ensure delegates are eligible to attend.   • What happens if I fail the course?

    If you should fail the course our customer service team will be in contact to discuss your options.  Our team will talk through the process to help you achieve the qualification required in the most effective way.
