ECITB - CCNSG Safety Passport Renewal Course

Letting a Safety Passport lapse can mean losing site access altogether, and the ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport Renewal Course exists to make sure that never happens. This nationally recognised, one-day qualification brings delegates up to date with current legislation and safety practices before their existing card expires, keeping site access uninterrupted.

Cards must be renewed before they expire, and delegates who successfully complete this course are issued a new CCNSG Safety Passport, valid for a further three years. Delegates renewing their qualification often revisit topics from the original ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport Course, since this renewal builds directly on that foundation rather than starting from scratch.

Because asbestos, COSHH and working at height all feature within the renewal syllabus, delegates wanting a deeper technical refresh in any one area often pair this course with the Asbestos Awareness Course, the COSHH Online Course or Working at Height Training. Anyone whose role also involves manual handling on site may want to keep the Manual Handling Online Course in mind too, given how frequently the two areas overlap in day-to-day site work.

Delegates must hold a valid CCNSG Safety Passport and present it to the trainer on arrival, along with a current UK photo card driving licence or valid passport as proof of identity, their National Insurance number, and two passport-sized photographs on the first day. Failure to produce a valid, in-date passport may result in entry to the course being refused, and full course fees may still apply.

This ECITB CCNSG course will provide delegates with:

• An update on legislation and safety practices
• A refresher on the areas covered in the original Safety Passport
• Hazard spotting and job safety analysis

This course will cover the following topics:

• Health and safety law, permits to work and safe behaviour at work
• Safe working practices relating to working at height, use of scaffolding and access equipment
• Safe working practices for access, exiting and site transport
• Accident, first aid and fire procedures and precautions
• COSHH regulations and personal protective equipment requirements
• Implications of working with asbestos
• Noise and hand-arm vibration procedures and practices
• Regulations for working with cranes and heavy lifting equipment
• Procedures and practices for working with cranes and heavy lifting
• Procedures, controls and precautions for electricity and power isolation

Delegates complete four multiple-choice tests as part of the course and must achieve a pass rate of 80% or more. Successful candidates are issued a new CCNSG Safety Passport, valid for three years.

This course is for any delegate holding a valid CCNSG Safety Passport that's due to expire. Candidates wishing to renew early can do so up to three months before their expiry date.

Delegates must hold a valid CCNSG Safety Passport to attend the ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport Renewal Course, and must present it to the trainer on arrival. Candidates wishing to renew early can do so up to six months before their expiry date. Failure to produce a valid, in-date passport may result in entry to the course being refused, and full course fees may still apply. All candidates must also bring a current UK photo card driving licence or valid passport as proof of identity, along with their National Insurance number and two passport-sized photographs on the first day of the course.
