The aim of the NRSWA Supervisor Course is to enable Supervisors to gain the necessary qualifications under the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991 which allow them to carry out their duties on the public highway, ranging from excavation to permanent re-instatement of paved structures. This course assesses qualified, experienced supervisors on their ability to perform duties to the standards prescribed in the SQA, safeguarding themselves and others around them.
The NRSWA Supervisor Course builds on the foundations covered in the NRSWA Operatives Course, since supervisors need to be able to monitor the standard of work carried out by operatives on their team, applying the same underlying legislation from a supervisory rather than hands-on perspective. Anyone unsure whether their current level of experience is suitable for entrance onto the course is encouraged to call the training team before booking a place.
Once qualified, supervisors whose certification is due to lapse will need to book the NRSWA Supervisor Re-assessment Course to keep their qualification current, rather than repeating the full course from scratch. In addition to bringing relevant PPE, students will need to take two passport size photographs for the card application, and a basic comprehension of the English language is essential.
