Having gained practical knowledge with the Legionella Operative course, this course takes compliance and accountability a step further, giving you a deeper knowledge of the risks and allowing you to oversee the water system management of others. Since COSHH regulations underpin much of the legal framework covered here too, delegates wanting a broader technical grounding often pair this course with the COSHH Online Course.

This City & Guilds Accredited training is delivered in real time, so you can ask questions and interact with your trainers throughout the session. To comply with the approved Code of Practice, you'll need to have completed a relevant L8 Responsible Person course, which qualifies you to manage premises, occupants and water systems.

The aim of this course is to ensure you understand the legal, financial and ethical consequences of poor legionella management in water systems. Having gained practical knowledge with the Legionella Operative course, you'll go a step further in compliance and accountability with this course. Here's what you'll cover:

• A deeper knowledge of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Approved Code of Practice
• Your role and responsibilities as the Responsible Person with regards to legionella
• Following the ACOP L8 Fourth edition Approved Code of Practice
• Understanding and implementing HSG 274 part 2 technical guidance
• Effective legionella risk management
• The legal and financial implications of inefficient legionella control
• The moral consequences of poor legionella management
• The risk of prosecution following a legionella outbreak

Over the course of a day, you take a deep dive into effective legionella management, which focuses on:

• Evaluating water treatment options for hot and cold-water systems
• Implementing the correct treatment for each system
• Overseeing legionella risks across several sites
• Ensuring a high level of safety measures are implemented
• Monitoring legal compliance
• Ensuring the safe and effective management of water systems

At the end of the virtual course, you'll be assessed to measure your understanding of legionella management responsibilities within cold and hot-water systems. If successful, you'll receive a City & Guilds Accredited Certificate which is valid for two years.

If you're the Legionella Responsible Person, a facilities manager or business owner, this course is for you. You'll oversee safety procedures in your day-to-day work, conduct risk assessments and inspect water systems and premises, being proactive in assessing risk and putting safety measures in place.
