ONLINE NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate (Remote Learning)

ONLINE NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate (Remote Learning)

5 Days CourseOnline Instructor Led

The ONLINE NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate (Remote Learning) follows NEBOSH's globally recognised syllabus, launched in 2021, and is a highly valued qualification for anyone with environmental management responsibilities at work. Developed by NEBOSH, the course delivers practical, rigorous content that equips candidates to effectively manage environmental issues day to day; around two-thirds of health and safety practitioners now handle environmental management as part of their overall role, making this knowledge vital for organisations wishing to avoid prosecution, litigation and reputational loss.

Taught via virtual classroom over five days, delegates need good personal presentation and communication skills, along with basic computer skills such as saving and locating files and accessing websites. To take part, delegates need access to a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, microphone and speaker; tablets aren't supported for this course. Anyone wanting to build a broader sustainability skill set alongside this NEBOSH qualification should also look at the ISEP Sustainability Skills for Managers Online Course, which covers complementary ground for anyone leading environmental change within their organisation.

Typically, candidates who undertake this course already have responsibility for managing environmental issues at work, though it's equally suitable for anyone starting or advancing a career in environmental management. Anyone whose role also touches on general health and safety management should consider pairing this with the NEBOSH National General Certificate, covering the broader compliance ground this environmental qualification builds on. Please note that all course materials and certificates are sent via post, with an additional charge for delivery outside the UK, confirmed once booking has been made.

Upon completion of this virtual course, you will be able to:

  • Justify environmental management in the workplace using ethical, legal and financial arguments, linking these to wider environmental issues including sustainable development
  • Recognise workplace activities which may be subject to environmental legislation or enforcement
  • Understand the requirements of, and work within, an environmental management system, while contributing to continual improvement
  • Assess environmental aspects and associated impacts, determining significant aspects and evaluating current controls
  • Support environmental emergency planning
  • Understand the importance of reducing environmental harm, identify sources of noise, air and water pollution, and suggest suitable control measures
  • Understand the issues associated with waste and support responsible waste management
  • Understand the benefits and limitations of a range of energy sources, and suggest suitable measures to increase energy efficiency

This course comprises two units of study:

  • EMC1: an open book exam completed electronically and submitted through the NEBOSH exam portal, giving candidates 24 hours from 11am UK time on exam day to complete and submit their paper, typically taking around five hours and involving a real-life scenario with theoretical and practical questions
  • EMC2: a practical assessment, carried out at the candidate's own workplace, assessing environmental aspects and impacts there, typically taking around three hours and submitted by email within 14 days of the exam date booking

Both units must be passed to achieve the full NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate, with a unit certificate issued for each and a certificate award parchment issued on completion of both. Exam costs are included in the virtual classroom course price, and exam dates are set by NEBOSH.
