Information For All Applicants On The CISRS Smart Cards

NOCN Job cards will be taking over the provision of CISRS card as of the 2nd December 2019. As a result, every CISRS card applicant from 2nd December can expect to receive a digital Smart Card. The digital Smart Card uses NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. So, any NFC device like a tablet or smartphone can process details such as the cardholder’s name, endorsements, photo and courses with just a tap.

For people that might worry about using the technology, CISRS will be releasing a CISRS NFC Technology User Guide on its website.

In order to accommodate new features like card renewal notifications, NOCN Job Cards are already developing the next phase of the Smart cards.

Most of the new changes won’t impact a majority of the card applicants as their cards are to be processed by the CISRS Training Centres. However, if you intend to apply for a CISRS card in the next couple of weeks, here are some things to note;

• The cost of the new CISRS card will increase to £30 without vat, which is still lower than the industry average.
• The deadline for CISRS card application was the 27th November 2019. NOCN Job Cards will be processing any application to CITB after the deadline. Also, the NOCN Job Cards will notify all applicant of the new fee of £30.
• NOCN Job Card will have the new CISRS card on its website from 2nd December 2019.
• The types of payment that the NOCN will be accepting for the new CISRS card will be Credit/Debit card payment through it CISRS helpline via 0844 8157223, and if you have an NOCN Job Cards account, you can use it to make a BACS payment. Postal Orders and Cheques will not be accepted.
• All enquires can be passed through the CISRS helpline via 0844 8157223 or [email protected] from 2nd December 2019. It is worth mentioning that due to upcoming training and holidays, the helpline will be closed from midday from 24th December to 2nd January 2020.
• The NOCN Job Cards plans to launch a two-stage introduction programme in 2020. They hope that applications will be open by the first quarter of 2020.
• There will be no issuing of CISRS smart cards in December as staff will be undergoing induction training coupled with the holiday breaks.

Note: Due to the change of operating board from CISRS to NOCN Job Cards, there will be no card processing between 22/11/2019 to 2/01/2020.

Furthermore, all courses will still proceed as scheduled, and applicants will receive pass confirmation. However, there will be a delay in smart card collection, and the delay might exceed the initial 21 days timeframe.
