NEBOSH Fire Safety

Enrolling one of your employees on a NEBOSH Fire Safety training course is one of the most important things you could do for your business.  Fact.  It is also a fact that over 70% of businesses which suffer from a fire will never recover from the impact of it.  It only takes one fire to kill a business or a person, which is why we feel it is so important to ensure at least one of your employees has attended the NEBOSH Fire Safety course.

Think about what you would lose a fire were to incur on your business premises.  If you sell products then your whole livelihood could go up in smoke, literally.  Even if you have appropriate insurance, you will probably not receive anything back from that for a while, meaning during that time you may not be able to trade.  If the fire was caused by something you or one of your employees done wrong then insurance may not even pay out for the fire.

Even if you sell a service rather than a product your business can still be ruined by a fire.  Consider where you keep all your data about customers.  It's likely to be either on a computer or in a folder, which means if there is a fire then you may not be able to recover all of your customer data.  There are also other things to consider, again like whether insurance will pay for your fire and the impact it will have on your business to be closed for a length of time.

The NEBOSH Fire Safety training course was introduced in 2005 with the intention of minimising the risk of fire and educating people into how they can reduce the risk of a fire.  Whilst the course can't stop all fires occurring, it can educate people into what to do should the worst happen.  The NEBOSH Fire Safety course is aimed at anyone who takes the Fire Officer responsibility within their business.

It is generally down to the Fire Officer to pass their training on to their employees.  Before commencing employment all employees should be trained in fire safety.  This includes teaching them the fire evacuation procedure as well as what to do if a fire occurs.

Fires can ruin a business, they can also ruin lives, so make sure your business is as prepared as it can be by enrolling one of your employees onto a NEBOSH Fire Safety course.
