Occupational Safety - NEBOSH General Certificate
If you are working in the occupational health and safety sector or it is a concern of yours then you should consider taking the NEBOSH General Certificate.
Occupational health and safety is a cross disciplinary area which is concerned with protecting the health and safety of people at work and when in employment. The mission of health and safety workers is to encourage a safe and healthy work environment. Health and safety doesn't just affect the employees but also the colleagues, employers, customers and anyone else who may be affected by your work environment.
Health and safety is important, not only for obvious reasons, but also for legal and financial reasons. All business owners have a duty of care to ensure their employees and anyone else on their premises remain safe at all times. This is a legal requirement for all businesses. Any business owner who doesn't follow these legal requirements is likely to be fined.
NEBOSH, the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, are a UK based independent examination board who provide and deliver vocational qualifications in health and safety. They also runs courses in environmental processes and management. NEBOSH was founded in 1979 and has run thousands of courses in the years since. At present there are over 180,000 people who hold a NEBOSH qualification.
The NEBOSH General Certificate gives the perfect introduction to health and safety for employees. Not only does it look at the basics of health and safety but it also looks at risk assessments and things which could be considered to be risks in the workplace. The Certificate is taken by thousands of delegates every year and isn't necessarily aimed at just those working in health and safety. It is good practice for every organisation to nominate one person to be in charge of health and safety, so this course is a good starting point for them.
The NEBOSH General Certificate is accepted by IOSH, who are the leading independent body worldwide in Safety and Health, in meeting the academic requirements for the Tech IOSH membership. It is also accepted by IIRSM, the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management, for associate membership.
If you are looking for a course which will teach delegates the basics of health and safety, then this is the course for you. Once the course has been completed, the delegates can then continue on the study path for further study.
