SSSTS to lower workplace injury

Accredited by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), the SSSTS course has always been one of our most popular at Easybook Training. The course is endorsed by the UK Contractors Group as the standard training required on all of their construction sites.

It's no secret that the construction industry has the highest amount of fatalities and injuries across any industry. As the years have passed, technology has developed meaning that knowledge about health and safety has improved over time. However, as more people work within the industry, it has become more and more high risk. In fact, whilst the industry only accounts for 5% of workers in Britain, it accounts for 22% of workplace fatalities in the UK.

Fatalities in construction have decreased upon what they were twenty years ago due to an increased knowledge, however we believe that any fatalities to occur at work are too many. There is now a lot more knowledge about risks in construction which is one of the reasons fatalities have decreased.

The SSSTS courses are filled with relevant health and safety content, including a module which teaches site managers how to carry out their own risk assessments. As legislations have changed over the years, workers, particularly managers have to be more aware of their responsibilities within the workplace.

It is a legal requirement to ensure that all employees have adequate training in health and safety. If they don't receive the appropriate training then the employer could be at fault and prosecuted. Unfortunately for employers, there is very little legislation which explains the exact knowledge employees require. This is one of the main reasons employers tend to send their employees on health and safety training courses.

The SSSTS course is aimed at site supervisors and provides delegates with the knowledge to understand health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. It also teaches delegates how to communicate effectively with staff, which is one of the main problems within health and safety. This includes, but isn't limited too identifying duties carried out on the site as well as monitoring employees site activities effectively.
