Climate change, pollution, and becoming more "green" appear to be at the forefront of many individual's and businesses' minds in the UK and around the world. Nowadays, companies risk losing customers or facing severe backlash if they are seen to be doing little to reduce their carbon footprint, with an increasing number of companies laying out objectives to achieve "Net Zero Carbon Emissions."
According to Department for Transport: Transport and Environmental Statistics 2021 Annual Report, domestic transport produced 27% of the UK's total greenhouse gas emissions in 2019. With this in mind, manufacturers have moved to include electric-powered vehicles or electric-model alternatives to their vehicle line-ups. Since the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) in the UK, it is estimated that there are already 299,805 fully electric vehicles and 600,000 hybrids on the roads, with 1 in 10 cars expected to be electric by the end of 2021.
With more and more electric vehicles joining the UK’s roads, and the impending 2030 ban on new diesel vehicles, the need for electric vehicles will continue to become even more important, and with the increasing number of electric vehicles needing to be charged, more EV charging points and stations will be required up and down the country, in commercial, industrial and domestic spaces, and that’s where City & Guilds come in.
