NVQ Level 2 in Plastering (Construction) Solid

The NVQ Level 2 in Plastering (Construction) Solid course is aimed at candidates who are already working as a plasterer and want to achieve a qualification that recognises their skills and expertise.  On successful completion of the course, students will be able to apply for their CSCS Blue Skilled Workers Card.

Practical skills taught on the course include how to apply solid and finishing plaster and how to repair fibrous plaster components. Learners can also select a specialism such as laying sand and cement screeds or installing mechanically fixed plasterboard.

Applicants MUST be at least 16 years old and have a good understanding of the English language.  This nvq course is designed so the learner can gain the qualification while at work and enhance their career prospects.


Objectives

At the end of the NVQ Level 2 in Plastering course, candidates will be able to demonstrate and excellent knowledge, understanding and skills of plastering and methods to achieve a flawless finish.

Agenda

The Level 2 Construction NVQ in Plastering will cover the following mandatory topics:

  • General Health & Safety
  • Solid and finishing plaster
  • Working productively
  • Applying solid render to surfaces
  • How to move, handle and store resources

Students must also choose one of the optional units:

  • How to install direct bond dry lining systems
  • Laying cement and sand screeds
  • Maintaining equipment
  • Installing mechanically fixed plasterboard
  • Applying projection plaster and render

Assessment

In order to successfully complete the Level 2 course, an NVQ assessor will observe the learner through a range of methods:

  • observations to see skills in practice
  • professional discussions
  • written questions
  • a portfolio of evidence

*To apply for the CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card candidates must have an up to date CITB Health and Safety Touch Screen Test*
