Needles & Sharps Online Course

This 15-minute e-learning needles and sharps training course focuses on the dangers associated with Sharps, the potential health risks and the handling and disposal of Sharps objects.  It will also look at what PPE is available and The Health and Safety (Sharp Instruments in Healthcare) Regulations 2013

This online course takes around 15-minutes to complete. By the end, you’ll be familiar with:

• What a sharp is, and how most sharps injuries occur
• The risks associated with using sharps and needles carelessly
• Who is most at risk of a sharps injury
• When sharps are used in the workplace
• Best practice for handling and disposing of sharps safely
• Legal responsibilities of the employer and employee regarding safe use of sharps
• What to do in the event of a sharps-related injury

This online training course covers the following topics:

• Introduction to sharps
• The dangers of sharps injuries, when they occur and who is most at risk
• Health and Safety (Sharp Instruments in Healthcare) Regulations 2013
• The responsibilities of employers and employees
• How to keep workers safe from harm
• Best practice for sharps use

At the end of this course, you will need to take an online exam containing 20 multiple-choice questions. The exam is marked automatically and you’ll find out your results straight away. If you are unsuccessful, don't worry, you can re-take the exam as many times as you need to at no extra charge.
