IPAF MEWPS for Managers Online Course

If you manage or supervise sites with Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), this Online IPAF MEWPS for Managers Course covers everything you need to ensure the safety of all workers on site. You’ll learn how to carry out thorough risk assessments, plan the job cost-effectively, choose the right equipment and reduce the chance of workplace injury.

As an online training course, you’ll be able to work through each section at your own pace on a computer, tablet or laptop. We expect most candidates to complete the course within 4-8 hours.

Please note: facial recognition is used throughout this course. Delegates must agree to be photographed and work on a camera-enabled device. You’ll also be required to attend training sessions alone, so if the camera detects someone else present, the training may stop.

This is a CITB grant funded training course, which has been created in accordance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) as well as the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

This online IPAF course does not include how to operate equipment.

It is essential that you understand and comply with the following criteria before booking on this training course. You must:

• Be over 16 years of age
• Have a good understanding of written English
• Complete the course on a camera-enabled PC, laptop or tablet (not a mobile phone)
• Undertake all aspects of the course alone (you may be removed from the course if other people are present)
• Allow facial recognition technology to be used throughout the course
• Complete the course within 6 months. After this time your licence will expire and you’ll need to re-book

By the end of this online IPAF training course, you’ll have thorough understanding of:

• Equipment – selection, maintenance and safety checks

• Pre-course theory test
• IPAF and PAL card overview
• Machine classifications
• Types of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) and their usage
• Maintenance and daily checks
• MEWP safety regulations and guidance
• Understanding hazards
• Safe operator methods and training
• MEWP personal fall protection equipment
• Hire terms and conditions
• Online test

On successful completion of the online theory test, you’ll receive an electronic IPAF Certificate of Training and the MEWP for Managers (MM) qualification, both of which can be accessed via the IPAF ePAL app along with the logbook and safety information.

Please note, completion of this course does not qualify you to operate powered access equipment. If you already hold a Powered Access Licence, you can have the MEWPs for Managers (MM) added to your PAL Card.
