CPCS A58 Excavator 360 - Below 10 Tonnes Course

The CPCS A58 Excavator 360 Below 10 Tonnes Course provides A58 Excavator 360 operators with the required knowledge, skills and accreditation to operate an excavator below ten tonnes safely and in line with current health and safety legislation. This plant course is accredited by the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) and is delivered with a focus on practical training and tutorials.

Delegates are required to have a good understanding of written and spoken English. In order to successfully complete training, candidates must have a CITB Health, Safety & Environmental touch screen test which has been completed within two years of the course examination date. The CPCS Red trained operator card confirms a level of core skills, knowledge and understanding that can be applied in the workplace; please note that this card is non-renewable, though it can be upgraded to a Blue CPCS Competence Card on completion of a Level 2 NVQ qualification. On completion of the course, candidates will be able to:

• Correctly use ancillary equipment
• Undertake routine equipment servicing checks and processes
• Understand the abilities and limits of A58 Excavator 360 equipment

This CPCS course will cover the following:

• Your role and responsibility as operator of an A58 Excavator 360 under 10 tonnes
• Key machinery components and controls
• Grading and levelling
• Placing materials into vehicles and hoppers
• How to lift and move basic loads
• Operating machinery in confined or limited spaces
• Relevant legislation and health and safety regulations
• Operating an A58 Excavator 360 safely within confined spaces
• Complete shutdown and security procedures

This plant course requires candidates to take part in both practical and theory tests. Having completed the course, candidates will receive a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card (Category A58), which will be valid for two years and available for upgrade to a Blue CPCS Competence Card on completion of a Level 2 NVQ qualification. Assessment takes place across four days of practical training and one day of CPCS testing.

This CPCS course is suitable for new operators who are required to operate an A58 Excavator 360 under ten tonnes on site and who wish to obtain a CPCS Red Card. For experienced operators or those who require a re-test only, please contact one of the booking team on 01892 543000.

Candidates must have an in-date CITB Health, Safety and Environment Touch Screen Test which has been completed within two years of the course examination date. A good understanding of written and spoken English is essential. To confirm registration, candidates are required to provide their existing CSCS Card number, NI number, date of birth and home address.

Delegates must also bring appropriate PPE for the practical element of the course, including a hard hat, hi-vis vest or jacket, safety boots, and gloves.
