NRSWA Unit 1 Signing, Lighting and Guarding

Once completed, the NRSWA Unit 1 Signing, Lighting and Guarding course certifies successful candidates to set out traffic lights, signs, cones and barriers in compliance with NRSWA. Designed for all personnel employed by Local Authorities, Utilities and their contractors for the purpose of any road works in, on or around the highway, this course gives operatives the practical skills needed to keep both themselves and the public safe on site.

Unit 1 forms part of the wider NRSWA Operatives Course syllabus, and operatives who need the full range of operative units, not just signing, lighting and guarding, should look at the complete Operatives Course instead. 

Supervisors monitoring this work should look at the equivalent NRSWA Unit S1 Signing, Lighting and Guarding course, which covers the same subject area from a monitoring rather than hands-on perspective.

Following successful completion of the NRSWA Unit 1 Signing, Lighting and Guarding course, delegates will be able to:
