NRSWA Unit 1 Signing, Lighting and Guarding

Overview

Once completed the NRSWA Unit 1 course, successful candidates will be certified to set out of traffic lights, signs, cones and barriers in compliance with NRSWA.   This NRSWA training course is designed for all personnel employed by Local Authorities, Utilities and their contractors for the purpose of any road works in, on or around the highway.

 

Objectives

Following successful completion of the training delegates will be able to:

  • Survey the work site
  • Protect pedestrians from vehicular traffic and site personnel
  • Provide temporary traffic control

Agenda

The NRSWA Unit 1 training session will cover the following topics: -

  • Legal requirements
  • Types of Works
  • Basic principles of signing and guarding
  • On-site risk assessment
  • Single vehicle operating
  • Works on footways
  • Cycle lanes, cycle track and cycle routes
  • Methods of traffic control
  • Testing and operating portable traffic signals
  •  New signs
  • Speed control
  • Procedures for works near tramways and railways
  • Planning a signing, lighting and guarding project

 

Assessment

This qualification is assessed by way of practical exercises and a written question paper.

Who Should Attend?

The NRSWA Unit 1 course is for operatives who are required to set up signing, lighting and guarding equipment on highways.

  • Will lunch be Included?

    The joining instructions will indicate if lunch is provided for the duration of your course.  Should you need to know prior to booking please contact one of our team who will be happy to advise.

  • When will I receive my Course Joining Instructions?

    Course joining instructions are sent 7 to 10 days prior to course commencement.  If you book within this time frame they are emailed within 24 hours of the booking being placed.

  • What time does my course start?

    Start and finish times are confirmed on your joining instructions which are issued 7 to 10 days prior to course commencement.  Failure to arrive at the requested time may result in the delegate being turned away.

  • Will I be required to wear PPE?

    If PPE is required for your training it will be listed on our website, within the course information section, and also confirmed on your joining instructions.  If you are missing an item or have any queries please contact our customer service team at your earliest convenience on 01892 543000.

  • Can I complete a name change on my booking?

    Yes, a name change can be completed free of charge providing the delegate being substituted has the required pre-requisites. You can submit your request by emailing our customer service team at training@easybooktraining.co.uk or calling on 01892 543000.
