NRSWA Unit S1 Signing, Lighting and Guarding

Overview

Once completed the NRSWA Unit S1 course, successful candidates are certified to supervise the setting out of traffic lights, signs, cones and barriers in compliance with the NRSW Act.  Assessment is carried out during the course and delegates are also required to complete a question paper. Delegates must also provide evidence from the work place where the assessment is carried out on a simulated site.

* Please note that this course does not certify candidates to undertake the setting out of signing, lighting and guarding. In order to qualify for this students must successfully pass the operative NRSWA Unit 1. *

 

Objectives

Following successful completion of this NRSWA training delegates will be able to:

  • Supervise signing, lighting and guarding of road works as laid down in the safety at street works and road works code of practice
  • Supervise the installation of portable traffic signals
  • Undertake the assessment for unit S1 monitoring of signing lighting and guarding

Agenda

The NRSWA Unit S1 training session will cover the following: -

  • Provide a detailed plan for an intended site, preferably from a real road, showing all distances and dimensions in accordance with the Safety at Streetworks and Road Works Code of Practice.
  • Make formative decisions and recommend remedial action from a given plan.
  • Observe an operative surveying a work site and record observations and remedial action required from the site plan.
  • Observe an operative setting up and taking down a site.
  • Record observations made and explain reasons for agreeing or disagreeing with site operations and working practices.
  • Explain any remedial action required.

 

Assessment

Assessment is carried out during the course and delegates are also required to complete a question paper. Delegates must also provide evidence from the work place where the assessment is carried out on a simulated site.

  • Will lunch be Included?

    The joining instructions will indicate if lunch is provided for the duration of your course.  Should you need to know prior to booking please contact one of our team who will be happy to advise.

  • When will I receive my Course Joining Instructions?

    Course joining instructions are sent 7 to 10 days prior to course commencement.  If you book within this time frame they are emailed within 24 hours of the booking being placed.

  • What time does my course start?

    Start and finish times are confirmed on your joining instructions which are issued 7 to 10 days prior to course commencement.  Failure to arrive at the requested time may result in the delegate being turned away.

  • Will I be required to wear PPE?

    If PPE is required for your training it will be listed on our website, within the course information section, and also confirmed on your joining instructions.  If you are missing an item or have any queries please contact our customer service team at your earliest convenience on 01892 543000.

  • Can I complete a name change on my booking?
