Q & A on IPAF operator training course

What is IPAF?

IPAF stands for International Powered Access Federation. It is one of the most recognised governing bodies when it comes to using Powered Access Equipment. The one day IPAF 3a and 3b course is specially designed for anyone who is currently operating or is required to operate a MEWP. MEWP is a Mobile Elevated Work Platform and this could be in the form of scissor lifts, boom lifts or trailer mounted boom lifts. The International Powered Access Federation licence is accepted worldwide and workers will need to undertake this training to ensure they meet the standards of employers and companies.

Why do I need to undertake the IPAF operator training course?

You will need to complete the IPAF 3a & 3b training course to ensure you are fully equipmed to operate Powered Access Equipment. The training will enable you to confidently use the equipment you need to use to fulfil your job role and also to conduct it in a safe and effective way. The IPAF training course is essential because it will make you aware of Health and Safety regulations, which is vital when working with potentially dangerous equipment. You will also benefit from this training as you will learn how to safely control and manoeuvre the equipment and be made aware of which warning alarms to be vigilant for. It will enable you to be able to identify any problems to prevent accidents to yourself and others around you.

How will I be assessed on the course?

Anyone that undertakes this training will be required to participate in a written test, as well as a practical assessment. Once the delegate has successfully completed both parts of the examination they will awarded the PAL card license. The PAL card license is the abbreviation given to the Powered Access License and this licence is accepted all over the world and valid for 5 years.
