SMSTS to increase safety
The construction industry is the most dangerous land based sector in Europe, which make SMSTS training so important. In the European Union alone, the fatal accident rate is nearly thirteen in every one hundred thousand, compared to an average of five in one hundred thousand throughout the other sectors.
The SMSTS course is undertaken by 10,000 delegates every year in the UK. The course itself takes five days to complete, after which it lasts for five years before a refresher course needs to be undertaken. The course covers health and safety, risk assessments and new legislations. Laws within health and safety change every year, so it's very important to keep up with the latest changes. The SMSTS course enables delegates to have a greater understanding of the responsibilities of their role.
The SMSTS course is for site supervisors and managers, it is accredited by the CITB and nationally recognised as the minimum standard for managerial safety training. For this reason, it is a great course to undertake it you are looking for a promotion from your current role. If you are hoping for a promotion, it's likely you will feel a variety of emotions as you strive to make your work recognised. The SMSTS course is the perfect way to prove your commitment to this.
Enlisting the correct health and safety procedures have become an important part of everyday working life. Whatever industry you are working within, whether it be construction or just in an office, you need to be aware of health and safety. Everyone has a right to go to work safely, and whilst workplace injury is relatively low in the UK, it still exists, which means we need to work hard to improve health and safety. This is particularly true in construction.
The SMSTS course covers a range of assessments, including how to carry out risk assessments, set up sites, plan evacuations as well as assist with demolitions. The course focuses on tasks which are carried out on construction sites on a daily basis, ensuring that delegates are fully prepared when managing sites.
Undertaking the SMSTS course would make a good addition to any CV. It demonstrates responsibility, knowledge and authority as well as demonstrating a desire to learn. If you are looking for a promotion in the construction industry, the SMSTS course is a great way to work your way up in the industry.
There is also the SMSTS Refresher course for those who are approaching 5 years since the SMSTS training.
