Merit Skills Ltd is a specialist training and development provider focused primarily on the water and utilities sectors, operating from a purpose-built training centre in Yaxley on the outskirts of Peterborough, conveniently located near the A1(M), A47, and A14. The company has built its expertise through years of delivering multi-million pound training contracts across the water industry, from network operations and treatment through to gas and plumbing.

The provider's course sectors span water networks, waste water networks, water treatment, waste water treatment, plumbing, gas networks, gas safety, health and safety, NRSWA streetworks, management development, and water operations and management, giving clients across the utilities sector a genuinely comprehensive, sector-specific training offer through a single provider. Apprenticeships are also available at Level 3 in Water Industry Treatment Process Technician and Water Industry Network Technician standards.

The training centre itself features three fully equipped theory and practical training rooms, a CABWI-approved purpose-built streetworks area covering cable location, signing, lighting and guarding, excavation and reinstatement, a CABWI-standard confined space facility, a EUSR-approved trench support area with timber, steel sheets, and hydraulics, and a water mains network for mains commissioning and leakage detection training.

Accreditation comes through CABWI, EUSR, Energy and Utility Skills, BPEC, City & Guilds, IOSH, and ILM, alongside membership of the Future Water Association and the Institute of Water, reflecting deep and long-standing ties with the water industry. Merit Skills is also part of the Universal Skills Group, extending its geographic reach and course capacity further across the UK.
